Coast to Coast to Coast Vacation Complete!

Well our Coast (Whidbey Island Camping) to Coast (Seabrook Island for J & J's wedding) to Coast (back home) week is complete! We had a great time down in South Carolina and Georgia catching up with all of our friends. We were able to enjoy some burritos from Nacho Mamas and also a slice of pizza at The Pizza Joint. The tea was sweet and the beer was cold the entire weekend! We were also able to grab breakfast at the Waffle House but were unable to make a Sonic stop for a Cherry-Lime Aide. We ate very well the entire trip, lots of East coast seafood versus the seafood we get out here.

We had a great time at J&J's wedding, the food was great (Chris and our friend Lara actually asked to talk with the chef!) and we had a blast catching up with our friends that still live in GA. The pace was pretty slow on Seabrook Island, with it being the off-season. The weather was beautiful and the beach was deserted, which was great for us. Kyle took his first swim in the suprisingly warm waters of the Atlantic. He did great, he even wore his brand new swimming trunks. We played bocci ball on the beach and saw a huge pod of dolphins trolling for fish one afternoon. Another first for Kyle was we hired a sitter to watch him during the wedding. A few of our friends have watched him when dad was working nights and mom got to take a break (thanks Courtney, Racheal, Paul and Susie!) but this was different. This woman was more like a grandma and has been babysitting as her main job for 15 years. She loved taking care of Kyle and had lots to tell us when we got home that night.

Overall a great vacation, very relaxing and very easy going. Our next stop is to Winthrop Washington for the fall October Fest and Mountain Biking Festival. This is a trip long in the making and will be a great time, no doubt full of bikes and beer and a campfire or two!

Camping Trip #3

Well Kylie-boy went on his 3rd camping trip this weekend. We camped at South Whidbey State park. A nice park on the West side of Whidbey Island. Just a few miles of trails and some great views of the water and the Olympic penninsula.

Everyone in the family is currently sick, either a runny nose or sore throat. Perfect timing as we are about to embark on our coast to coast week of vacation. Hopefully a little Redhook ESB and soup before the trip will make us, or at least Dad, feel better.

So we've got a few big nights of packing and then we are off. Looking forward to some great days on the beach. Hopefully Kyle will bring some added brawn to Mom & Dad's never ending search for the elusive shaker of salt.

September Already?

We had another fun week. A quick one at that, we had some good friends over for brats and beers to celebrate the kickoff of NFL football last night, although we really didn't watch much of the game. A few of us had a great road bike ride over to Snohomish and then back home - 35 miles or so. We then finished off the night with cribbage and more beers, a good way to almost start the weekend.

Kylie-boy had a developmental check-up this week. He's doing just fine with his mental and social devlopment but needs to improve on some of his physical skills. So we've got a list of exercises for him and it's time to get to practice. I'm afraid that his first workout routine is about to get interrupted by vacation - we'll be on our way to South Carolina in a few weeks - the countdown is on. He also needs to put on some more weight, they think that he is low on weight for his length. I'll give him another week on the formula and then we're going to start him on Mega-Mass 2000 weight gain/powerlifter protein powder with 38 essential amino acids and low grade horse tranquilizer - that should help pack on the weight.

Other than that, things have been going well. We've got a busy weekend planned - some running, safety day at work, a poker tournament and lot's of football of course.

Looks like Kylie-Boy has just dozed off, I think he loves Willie's Place, old-school country music channel on XM radio. We tune it in every time we work on the blog.

MIght be a change for leaving comments coming, looks like we've been hit by a spammer. I'm going to activate the word authentication so that we don't get automated trash into our comments section - shouldn't be a big deal.
